Esther Thane, BMT, MTA, AVPT,

Executive Director

Esther has specialized since 1996 in neurodivergent individuals & diverse needs. After over a decade on faculty at Capilano University, Esther continues to present, publish, and consult. In 2014, she completed Dr. Diane Austin's (Music Psychotherapy Center, NY) training program in Advanced Vocal Psychotherapy. Esther’s publication in the book: Voicework in Music Therapy, focuses on her innovative method of Vocal-Led Relaxation for Children with Autism. Esther created Meet In The Music© (MITM) music therapy curriculum, which is utilized by music therapists globally. She has received numerous awards including: 1. “Iconic Women Creating a Better World For All Award”, presented by the Women Economic Forum in New Delhi, India (2017), 2. “Peer Recognition Award for innovation and Advocacy”, presented by the Canadian Association For Music Therapy (2021), 3. Luminous Alumni Award of Excellence, presented by Capilano University (2024). Esther is also VP of Business Development at UnitusTI- a Therapy & Education Cloud Platform.

Emily Naccarato, DFA, BMT, MTA, MT-BC, Senior Music Therapist

Emily obtained a diploma in fine arts before pursuing a career in music therapy. She has also taught piano for over 15 years. Emily completed her music therapy studies at the University of Windsor, Ontario, before coming out west to BC. Emily employs an eclectic approach to music therapy and adopts creative ways of using music to meet goal objectives for clients. Emily is our specialist teaching adaptive piano instruction. She is also Director of UnitusTI training and implementation at ET Music Therapy. Emily has presented at National music therapy conferences on implementation of the Meet In The Music© (MITM) curriculum with clients, as well as on strategies and techniques for telehealth sessions.

Luke Lee Burton, MMT, MTA, MT-BC, Music Therapist

Luke received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music from York University and a Masters of Music Therapy from Wilfrid Laurier University. He also studied transpersonal psychotherapy for 2 years at the Transpersonal Therapy Centre in Toronto. He has worked with a wide range of clients including: geriatrics, mental/spiritual health, & developmental differences. Luke has presented and co-led workshops on clinical improvisation, improvised music and spirituality. Currently Luke serves clients in an online format, supporting them in music composition and their individual creativity.

Shandea Morin, BMus, BMT, MTA, MT-BC, Music Therapist

Originally from Powell River, BC, Shandea relocated to Nova Scotia where she first received a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice, from Acadia University. Upon completion, she then received her Bachelor of Music Therapy before returning to her home province. Shandea’s approach to music therapy is client-centered, focusing on working with the client’s strengths in order to overcome any challenges and reach their goals. She is known for her open and inviting approach, and always smiling!

Lou Latil, MMT, M.Ed.,BPhil, MTA, MT-BC, Music Therapist

Originally from France, Lou received a Master's degree in Music Therapy from Paris-Descartes University, a Master's degree in Teaching and Education from ESPE Paris, and a Bachelor of Philosophy degree from the Sorbonne University, Paris. Following an opportunity to move in Canada, she joined ET Music Therapy after having taught Music in a French Immersion school in Calgary. A trained percussionist, pianist and singer, Lou has been a member of various orchestras, bands and choirs in France and Canada. Music Therapy has been her vocation since 2013 and she has worked with the autism community. Lou's music therapy approach is client-centered, focusing on building a relationship of trust to support every client's progress. She is still involved in the French Music Therapy community, writting articles for the French journal of Music Therapy.

Sydney Freedman, DPMUSC, BMT, MTA, MT-BC, Music Therapist

Born and raised in Richmond, BC, Sydney completed a classical voice music diploma at Capilano University. Upon completion, she continued on to attain her Bachelor of Music Therapy degree there as well. Sydney completed practicums in senior’s homes, pediatric clinics and hospitals, learning the art of patience and adaptability. Prior to her music therapy training, she worked for many years as a music specialist at a summer camp and with adolescents within the Jewish community. Sydney values authenticity and strives to create a welcoming environment for her clients. She also performs in a Math Rock band in her spare time!

Tayler Tabernero, DPMUSC, BMT, MTA, MT-BC, Music Therapist

Tayler completed a diploma in jazz studies with voice as her concentration instrument, before obtaining a Bachelors degree in Music Therapy at Capilano University. She has experience working with at-risk youth, children on the Autism spectrum, adult psychiatric, & long term care. Tayler has been teaching piano for over eight years, combining the skills and approaches collected throughout her years of study to provide adaptive lessons. Tayler also shares her musicality within her community, performing at fundraisers and benefit concerts for both local and oversea calls for aid. Tayler is truly grateful for the ways her clients continue to enrich her life and aims to honor thelived experiences of each individual through collaborative music making and presence.

Ingrid Wan, BAMus, MMT, NMT, MTA, MT-BC, Music Therapist

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Ingrid received a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Hong Kong and moved to Canada to complete her Master’s degree in Music Therapy at Wilfrid Laurier University, Ontario. She has also completed her Neurologic Music Therapy training as a NMT affiliate. Ingrid has experience working with acute psychiatry, stroke rehabilitation, Aphasia, Dementia, children with speech & motor challenges, Cerebral Palsy and other diverse needs. Ingrid’s approach to music therapy is client-centred and humanistic. She believes music therapy serves an authentic purpose, empowering clients and encouraging self-sufficiency and independence outside of therapy. In her free time, you can find Ingrid attached to the hip with her energetic puppy, Daisy, out for long walks at Vancouver’s parks and scenic beaches!  

Golden Clark, DPMUSC, BMT, MTA, Music Therapist

Golden obtained a diploma in classical music as a voice major from Douglas College, Vancouver, before obtaining a Bachelor of Music Therapy Degree from Capilano University, North Vancouver. He has worked professionally as a musician, playing bass and guitar, in rock and jazz ensembles while living in Europe and around the world in the cruise ship industry. As a music therapist, Golden has worked for the past 11 years, with a broad range of populations including the autistic community, those with traumatic brain injury, dementia, and various developmental challenges. His approach to music therapy is client-centered, focused on realizing untapped potential in the client through creative musical interaction. In his spare time, he plays bass with SISTAZ: A History of Girl-Group R&B.

Ian Wright, BMus, GrDip, MTA, MT-BC

Ian received a Bachelor of Applied Music from Vancouver Community College where he studied jazz saxophone and took courses in composition, arranging, and jazz piano, and a Graduate Diploma in Music Therapy from Concordia University in Montreal. Ian has worked as a personal support councillor for disabled persons, and he is also an experienced teacher having taught English and Music for several years. Ian’s clinical experience in music therapy includes working with clients in mental health, geriatrics, palliative care, dementia care, and autistic individuals. He believes in taking a client-centered approach and he draws on a wide range of music therapy techniques. Ian believes deeply in the power of music and the important role that it can play in helping us access and express our emotional, psychological, and spiritual needs. In his spare time, Ian enjoys being outside in nature, reading, and catching up with family and friends.

Vince Thane, BCom. Business Manager

Vince brings over two decades of experience working in the Operations Management field. Upon graduating from The University of Calgary in 1994 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Operations Management and Supervision, he went on to work for a large corporation, specializing in sales forecasting, operations planning and inventory management. At ET Music Therapy, Vince is responsible for invoicing, maintaining funding bodies requirements, and all office management & business growth. Vince is also known as our in house instrument repair guy!
